Kings open season against Avalanche
The NHL season starts in Los Angeles with a knock-off against Colorado. The Kings won't go out in favor of a team that's always fearsome because of its hard work and intensity. For Los Angeles, the scenario has become familiar in recent years: elimination from the first round of playoffs, each time against Edmonton. This series of disillusionments highlights the gap between a team built on the experience and another range by speed. The intersaison did not really bring rejuvenation or renewal, and the challenge was huge.
Los Angeles Kings
The Kings' premature release last spring marked their fourth consecutive elimination in the first round, still against the Oilers. This contrast between the fast Canadian style and the more popular Californian game has become a constant. This season is particularly important for Anze Kopitar, an iconic captain, who will bid farewell to the NHL at the end of the exercise. His departure will leave a great void, and no obvious solution was found to succeed him.
On the ice, the team remains competitive, particularly offensively. Players like Adrian Kempe, Kevin Fiala or Quinton Byfield brought a good production last year, and presaison showed encouraging signs with several successes. Behind it, the defence continues to rely on Drew Doughty and Michael Anderson's experience, reinforced by the arrival of veterans supposed to solidify the whole. Darcy Kuemper keeps the cages after a reassuring season, with several decisive performances. However, the Kempe extension agreement is still not signed, leaving doubt about the coming fiscal year.
Colorado Avalanche
The elimination against Dallas last spring cooled the atmosphere around the Avalanche, but it did not question the value of the group. The team maintains a solid, well-balanced core and remains able to impose its pace on almost any opponent. Nathan MacKinnon always leads the charge, surrounded by a dense and creative offensive collective. At the blue line, Cale Makar continues to embody the heart of the game, both through her vision and her influence in key moments. Another addition of choice, without any transaction, the return to the game permanently by iconic captain Gabriel Landeskog, which will have an impact on and outside the rink.
Rather than changing everything, management opted for some targeted adjustments to strengthen depth without touching foundations. Behind it, the Makar–Toews pair remains a sure value, now backed by a reinforcement of experience to consolidate the defensive sector. In goals, MacKenzie Blackwood quickly found his marks and offered valuable stability. The summer preparation was indeed reassuring, with a series of clear wins before the coach decided to spare his executives at the end of the preseason.
Direct confrontations
Since 2024, both teams have faced each other four times and Colorado has had the advantage on three occasions. Each time, the team that received the victory, proof of the importance of the field factor in this opposition. The encounters were often prolific, with only one confrontation with less than five goals scored. By March 2025, the Avalanche had even inflicted a large home victory, 4-0.

More than 5.5 goals
Les deux équipes possèdent suffisamment d’arguments offensifs pour offrir un match ouvert. Compte tenu de leur historique récent, la barre des 5,5 buts pourrait bien être dépassée.

First of all, a word about our prognosis
What we publish on MathOddsThese are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, a wound, a goal from nowhere... and the script completely changes.
Let us be clear: there is no risk-free bet. Even when it appears « obvious »Nothing really is. And yes, that means you can lose. It's even inevitable at some point.
The best thing is to stay reasonable. Be small, set a budget and stick to it. Don't get the money you need to live. And above all, don't run after your losses, it rarely ends well.
A bet must remain a game, not a trade or a source of income. If you feel that it takes too much space in your daily life, that it upsets you or puts you under pressure, take a break. If necessary, talk to a specialized agency. That's what it's for.
In the end, responsibility belongs to you. To read our content is to accept that risk exists and that it will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
Essential reminder: betting is prohibited for minors and must respect the law of your country. The game can quickly derail (money losses, family tensions, addiction). Need help? Players Info Service : 09 74 75 13 13 (non-taxed call) • www.players-info-service.fr.
No commitment from us
Our predictions are not worth a contract. They have no legal significance. Clearly, you can't lean on it to claim anything if a bet doesn't pass.
Moving news
A prognosis is always based on what is known at the time of writing. But in the meantime, a team composition changes, a player gets hurt, the weather deteriorates... and the analysis can quickly be overtaken. We can't be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before you bet, just check that bets are legal in your home. If this is not the case, it is your responsibility, not ours.
