Back to sources: Luka Dontic dreams of finishing his career in Real Madrid
A simple wink? No. More a sincere confession, almost a promise.
The wonder becomes legend in white
It all started in 2012. Luka was just a 13-year-old when he left Slovenia to join Madrid. Three years later, he was already searching the front team's prosecution. The quiet blond kid became the youngest player in Real's history to make his pro debut, and one of the earliest at the ACB scale.
Then came the stunning ascent: EuroLeague's MVP, MVP of the Final Four, champion of Europe with Madrid in 2018. At 19, Doncic had already checked all possible boxes on the Old Continent. NBA projectors only extended the inevitable. But in his heart, the roots remained white.
A Future Beyond the Public Prosecutor's Office
Don't count on Doncic to play up to 40 years like LeBron James. That's not his plan. But the idea of imitating his elder in another way seduces him. Like James, a minority shareholder of the Fenway Sports Group, Luka wants to get involved in the property of a sports franchise. Not necessarily basketball. But enough to extend his passion for the game otherwise, once his sneakers are put together.
A clear message: he is not just an orange ball star. He wants to become an actor in the sport as a whole.
A transformed Doncic
This summer Luka surprised everyone. More sharpened, more mobile, almost unrecognizable during EuroBasket with Slovenia. The reason? A completely redesigned routine. Resistance bands, deadlifts, dumbbells, agility work... and even a private chef to watch every bite. All accompanied by intermittent fasting that changed his habits.
Strong sign: for the first time in his life, he stopped playing basketball for a month. « Pure training and fitness », he said. With a sense of humour, he added: « And the padel. »
Result? A lighter, faster Dontic, ready to attack the NBA season with a body that finally follows his genius.
Madrid is already dreaming of seeing his child prodigy again, and Dallas hopes to keep him for a long time. But Luka, he's on his way. Between flamboyant present, thoughtful future and nostalgia assumed, he has already found the formula that best defines it: one foot in the American dream, the other still anchored in the Spanish parquet floors.
